Job Description

The Royal is currently seeking Registered Nurses (RN). The RN will have a sound knowledge of clinical issues in the area of mental health and addiction and will provide specialized care to patients with complex mental illnesses. Responsibilities include the provision of supportive nursing care aligned with patient treatment and rehabilitation needs and goals. The RN will develop and implement, in collaboration with an interdisciplinary treatment team, creative treatment plans responsive to individual needs, coordinate the provision of services and resources in partnership with affiliate and community partners, and advocate to safeguard the person in care’s entitlements and rights. The RN will provide a safe, therapeutic environment including crisis management and emergency nursing care.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Provide supportive nursing care aligned with patient treatment/rehabilitation needs and goals
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with an interdisciplinary team
  • Identify and coordinate services and resources with affiliate and community partners
  • Advocate to safeguard the person in care’s entitlements and rights
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment including crisis management and emergency nursing care
Qualifications
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • BSc.N preferred
  • Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing is preferred
  • Previous nursing experience in psychiatric/mental health is preferred
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, and Substitute Decision Act
  • Safety and Security in the Workplace Training (must complete if not already held by start date)
  • Knowledge and skill in psychiatric nursing practice per Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice
  • Ability to meet Standards of nursing practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Recognized leadership skills with ability to work with an inter-disciplinary team
  • Valid driver’s license, if required
  • English level; Level C (oral and written) mandatory; Bilingual is an asset
Salary Range

$39.00 to $56.00 per hour
