VCU Health’s Waterside Commons Clinic in Prince George, VA, provides exceptional multispecialty adult & pediatric care. As an RN, you will work across various specialties and in family medicine within a community clinic serving a diverse population. Clinic hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, with no weekends, nights, or holidays.

The Clinical Nurse I role involves applying technical skills and knowledge to meet patient and family needs, assisting in illness prevention, wellness maintenance, and comfort provision. It includes providing guidance, education, and developing leadership skills at the unit level, delivering age-specific care, and safely administering medications.

The Clinical Nurse II role demonstrates mastery of clinical skills, assisting in illness prevention, recognizing patient situation changes, and mobilizing resources to meet patient needs. It involves leadership responsibilities, delivering age-specific care, and medication administration.

The Clinical Nurse III role requires advanced clinical knowledge, anticipating patient needs, serving as a role model, and providing leadership. It also involves delivering age-specific care and safe medication administration.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
  • Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible/compact state
Requirements for Continued Employment:
  • Current RN licensure in Virginia
  • AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent
Experience:
  • Clin I: N/A
  • Clin II: 12-24 months RN experience
  • Clin III: 3 years clinical experience
Preferred Experience:
  • Clin I: Experience as LPN, nursing assistant, or care partner
  • Clin II & III: Healthcare experience with similar patient populations
Education/Training:
  • Diploma or Associate Degree from an approved nursing program
  • All RNs without a Bachelor's degree must enroll in an RN to BSN program within two years and complete it within five years unless grandfathered.
Preferred Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or higher
  • Clin III: Certification in specialty area
Independent Actions:
  • Following physician/provider orders
  • Practicing within Virginia nursing regulations
  • Adhering to ANA Code of Ethics and practice standards
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Organizing work, delegating, and supervising team members
Additional Requirements:
  • Age-specific groups as assigned
  • Physical requirements include lifting 20-50 lbs, exposure to hazardous substances, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, walking, climbing, reaching, and sensory/mental skills such as reasoning and problem-solving. Emotional resilience is also necessary.
