Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication to delivering compassionate patient care to join our team.

In accordance with the established vision and values of Northern Health, the Resource Nurse practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and the code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), within a client and family-centred care model. Provides leadership and applies specialized theory and knowledge relating to designated patient populations to promote the delivery of safe, ethical, and quality care. Acts as a clinical resource by providing consultation and support to the interdisciplinary team, other professionals, and students. Available for direct care as needed in various formats (face-to-face, video, phone). Promotes excellence in patient-centred care, education, and research. Participates in direct patient and family care when required.

Shift Rotation/Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, Days - 08:30 to 17:00

Qualifications

  • Current practicing registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of British Columbia (CRPNBC).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Health Sciences (Psychiatric Nursing), completion of a post-basic specialty nursing certificate/program if applicable, and three years' recent experience in the designated clinical area, including crisis intervention if applicable, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to provide clinical leadership and work direction.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse, addiction, mental disorders, and recovery models.
  • Ability to identify issues and plan treatment collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and care pathways.
  • Understanding of family dynamics and interdisciplinary roles.
  • Effective planning, organization, communication, conflict resolution, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to lead change, develop educational programs, and support continuous improvement.
  • Basic research knowledge, CPR skills, computer literacy, and physical ability to perform duties.
