What is the Provincial Assessment Centre (PAC)
Provincial Assessment Centre (PAC) provides specialized assessment and treatment services to adults and youth over 14 years of age with developmental disabilities and concurrent mental health challenges.

What you'll do
- Provide direct health care services to clients with a variety of illnesses including communicable diseases, addictions, mental health, and general health issues. Perform assessments, collect specimens, refer clients, administer treatments and medications, and adjust as needed.
- Monitor, evaluate, and document client progress and symptoms. Utilize nursing skills and medical equipment for interventions. Facilitate discharge planning and make referrals to other health professionals.
- Educate and support clients and groups on health matters such as contraception, STDs, infections, dermatology, and psychosocial skills.
- Collaborate with healthcare team, clients, families, and community resources to identify and resolve health issues, address cultural and language barriers, and coordinate care. Make appropriate referrals.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation, including statistical information, reports, and client perspectives.
What you bring
Qualifications
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and current registration as RN or RPN with BCCNM.
- Two years' recent experience in acute or community health nursing, especially with clients who have psychiatric or substance use disorders, or equivalent education and experience.
- Knowledge of the impacts of settler colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples, and a commitment to anti-racism, equity, and cultural safety in healthcare.

- Understanding of Indigenous-specific and systemic racism, with demonstrated leadership in promoting inclusion and belonging. Embed Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility into practice. Foster trust through respectful communication and culturally relevant care.
- Knowledge of social, economic, and political realities affecting Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with relevant legislative commitments and foundational documents.
Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of nursing theories related to mental health, substance use, developmental disabilities, and infectious diseases. Ability to work within a client/family-centered approach.
- Understanding of evidence-based assessment and treatment theories for dual diagnosis. Knowledge of BCCNM standards and relevant legislation.
- Familiarity with community resources, facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to adapt to unexpected situations.
- Commitment to ongoing learning about Indigenous health issues, anti-racism, and systemic oppression. Ability to articulate and share learning to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
