Job summary

Interior Health is seeking an experienced Perioperative Registered Nurse to join the Operating Room team at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake, BC. This Relief Part Time (0.75) position supports a dynamic, fast-paced OR environment with 07:30–15:30 shifts and on-call hours.

The role requires BC Nursings' registration, CPR, and perioperative experience. Hospital benefits, pension, and training are provided; position runs until July 26, 2027 or return of the incumbent.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration (BCCNM).
  • Current CPR certification required for perioperative nursing.
  • Advanced perioperative nursing preparation and at least 1 year of recent OR experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to OR patients, independently or as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Confer and collaborate with other health care providers to enhance patient and family well-being.
  • Demonstrates evidence-based practice and continuous improvement in nursing care.
  • Maintains and advances own clinical competence.
  • Participates on hospital committees/teams and approved research projects.

Education

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
Current CPR certification

The Registered Nurse:

  • Provides nursing care to OR patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers
  • Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice
  • Maintains and advances own clinical competence
  • Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned

This is a Relief Part Time (0.75) opportunity until July 26, 2027, or the return of the incumbent.

Shifts of work will be scheduled days rotating from 07:30 to 15:30, 08:30 to 16:30 hours. This position will also include on-call hours.

About this Location

The Cariboo Memorial Hospital & Health Centre is a Level 2 Community Hospital in Williams Lake.

The hospital embodies a resident-centered philosophy designed to support residents’ choices, help people function at their highest level, and provide the best quality of life possible.

With 28 inpatient beds, the hospital offers an emergency room, an intensive care unit, operating rooms, and medical-surgical and obstetrical units. Lab and diagnostic imaging and outpatient hemodialysis units are operated on site. Residential beds are embedded within medical-surgical unit on second floor of the hospital.

Qualfications
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of the assigned area (perioperative nursing) and one year recent related clinical experience in the assigned practice environment on an operating room similar in size and scope to the facility or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
