Job summary

Interior Health is seeking an experienced Perioperative Registered Nurse to join the Shuswap Lake General Hospital Operating Room in Salmon Arm, BC. This Relief Part Time (0.50) position offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment for dedicated OR nursing care.

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will maintain clinical competence, participate in committees/research as assigned, and ensure high-quality patient outcomes in perioperative care.

Qualifications

  • Nurse with graduation and active BC RN registration.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Advanced perioperative preparation and 1 year OR experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to OR patients, independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Enhances quality of life for patients and families; consults with other health care providers.
  • Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence-based nursing practice; maintains and advances clinical competence.
  • Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.

Education

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
Current CPR certification
Advanced preparation in the clinical perioperative specialty and one year recent OR experience

Interior Health is seeking an experienced and dynamic Perioperative Registered Nurse to join our Operating Room team at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital in Salmon Arm, BC. The Registered Nurse:

  • Provides nursing care to OR patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers
  • Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice
  • Maintains and advances own clinical competence
  • Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned

This is a Relief Part Time (0.50) opportunity until March 20, 2026, or the return of the incumbent.

Shifts of work will be Monday to Friday, scheduled days rotating from 07:30 to 15:30 hours.

Qualfications
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of the assigned area (perioperative nursing) and one year recent related clinical experience in the assigned practice environment on an operating room similar in size and scope to the facility or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Note: Sites requiring competency in Emergency Room, Perianesthesia and Medical Device Reprocessing functions may also require NRP, TNCC and ACLS certificates.
