Job summary

Interior Health is seeking an experienced Perioperative Registered Nurse to join our Operating Room team at Summerland Health Centre in Summerland, BC. This role supports day surgery procedures in a small, efficient perioperative unit emphasizing teamwork, continuous learning, and patient-centered care.

The successful candidate will have a nursing degree with BCCNM registration, CPR certification, and perioperative nursing preparation with relevant OR experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Current CPR certification required.
• Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of perioperative nursing and one year recent related clinical experience in an operating room setting.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care to OR patients, both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers to enhance patient and family quality of life.
• Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence-based practice in perioperative nursing.
• Maintains and advances own clinical competence.
• Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.

This is a Relief Part Time (0.69) opportunity until January 4, 2028, or the return of the incumbent.

Shifts of work will be scheduled days Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 15:00 hours.

About this Location

Summerland Health Centre is a small and very efficient Perioperative Unit that provides quality care for Day Surgery Procedures. SHC performs ENT, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology and Dental Surgeries. As member of the SHC surgical services' team, you will coordinate and oversee the overall care of the client and set priorities, provide clinical expertise and leadership for the plan of care, plan and implement health care treatments and interventions, and assign and delegate tasks as appropriate to other members of the healthcare team. Reporting to Manger, Clinical Operations Operating Room, you will draw upon your ability to establish therapeutic relationships through the use of effective interpersonal and interviewing techniques, ensuring client choices and autonomy in decision making and care planning.
