Job summary

The University Hospital of Northern BC is seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to join our Patient Care Coordinator team. You will help optimize admission, transfer and discharge processes to ensure patients receive timely, appropriate care.

Under the supervision of the Manager or designate, you will coordinate bed utilization, communicate with care teams, and support decision-making to place patients in the right area of care at UHNBC.

Responsibilities

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, the Patient Care Coordinator, facilitates the delivery of the admission/discharge and transfer processes at UHNBC. The position requires in depth of knowledge of nursing theory, expert skills in nursing practice, communication, understanding and the ability to incorporate clinical skills to make appropriate decisions in the best interests of the patients and the hospital. This role will promote the efficient allocation and utilization of beds throughout UHNBC to support patients being in the appropriate area of care, receiving the highest quality of service. This position revolves around the ability to communicate with the necessary parties to problem solve the most efficient and effective solution to patient placement.

The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the operations of the Hospital in the absence of managers, department heads and senior administrative personnel.
