The Perioperative Program at KGH site is comprised of 12 Operating Rooms including a new Hybrid OR and encompasses a wide variety of surgical services including Cardiovascular, Thoracic, General Surgery, Gynecology Oncology, Urology, Head and Neck (ENT), Plastics, Orthopedic, and Neurosurgery. The Perioperative Program at HDH site consistent of 7 Operating Rooms and includes services such as Orthopedics, Surgical Oncology, Ophthalmology, and has a large Pediatric surgical program. At KGH site we offer a Specialized Robotics program, Minimally Invasive Surgical Program, and serve as the Trauma Center for the region. Our patient population consists mostly of adults requiring inpatient or outpatient surgery with the majority presenting with highly acute and complex conditions. Perioperative Nursing atKingstonHealth Science Centre is recognized for its patient and family centered approach, innovation, and for excellence in providing continuity of care to our patients and community.

In this specialty area, perioperative nurses care for patients from all age groups and work in a variety of surgical specialties. Perioperative nurses are an integral part of the interprofessional team, caring for patients during their most vulnerable time, advocating for patients in the operating room when they are unable to do so for themselves. Perioperative nurses must be able to work well under pressure, multi-task, and have strong teamwork stills. The Operating Room is a high-tech environment that is constantly evolving, which is a perfect fit for nurses who are interested in learning and willing to adapt to change.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Registered with CNO – College of Nurses of Ontario
• Graduate of an OR Registered Nursing certificate program
