REGISTERED NURSE (RN), INTENSIVE CARE - Relocate to Fort St. John BC

Northern Health

Position Summary

Financial Support for Moving Expenses is available for this position. Do you have a passion for nursing? We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication to delivering compassionate patient care to join our ICU department.

Under the direction of the Manager, Med/Surg; ICU; In-patients, the RN is responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients presenting in the ICU Unit.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Nights - 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00.

New Wage: As of April 1, 2024, the new wage is: $41.42 - $55.91/hour.

Fort St. John Hospital and Health Centre is a 46-bed hospital with 115 residential care beds in the adjoining Peace Villa Care Home. They have two state-of-the-art operating rooms, ambulatory clinics including cancer care and hemodialysis, emergency and ICU, and a birthing centre with single maternity rooms for labour, delivery, and post-partum.

Qualifications:

  1. Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  2. Current C.P.R., I.V. Therapy and Blood Glucose Monitor and Ventilator Certificates mandatory.
  3. In-house Coronary Care Course Certificate or equivalent.
  4. One (1) year full-time recent experience in intensive care.

Skills and Abilities:

  1. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  2. Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively.
  3. Demonstrated physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  4. Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
  5. Demonstrated ability to initiate and work independently.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of special procedures and techniques such as I.V. infusions of medications.
  7. Demonstrated competency in using equipment and supplies in I.C.U. such as Cardiac Monitors, Blood Pressure and Oxygen Saturation Monitors and Electrocardiograph machines.
