Job description

Registered Nurse (RN), Inpatient NRT

BC Children's Hospital

Vancouver, BC

What you'll do
  • Provide direct patient care by implementing the care plan, collaborating with the healthcare team to evaluate family-centered patient care.
  • Plan and perform activities such as reviewing patient/family history, developing care plans, and discussing them with the team.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including healthcare information, nursing observations, interventions, teaching, and care evaluations.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers by explaining procedures, demonstrating equipment use, and assessing learning effectiveness.
  • Participate in orientation and ongoing education of staff and students through preceptoring and mentoring.
  • Identify personal learning needs, discuss them with the Program Manager, and engage in relevant educational activities.
  • Act as a resource/support for patients, families, and healthcare professionals by explaining nursing decisions.
  • Contribute to team discussions during care conferences, rounds, and meetings.
  • Provide feedback on policies and procedures based on service observations to improve patient and family care.
  • Ensure a safe environment by following emergency and safety protocols.
  • Support research and quality improvement initiatives by participating in committees and staying informed through educational opportunities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
What you bring

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved Nursing program with current registration with BCCNM.
  • At least one year of recent experience in a related clinical area or equivalent education and experience.

Additional Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of the impacts of settler colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples and a commitment to anti-racism and cultural safety.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislative obligations and commitments, including TRC Calls to Action, UNDRIP, and others.
  • Effective communication skills, ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, and organizational skills.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties and operate related equipment.

Wage: $41.42 - $59.52/hour

Location: 4500 Oak Street, Vancouver BC

Hours: As per master OH #5; 07-19 and 19-07
