Job summary

Northern Health in Kitimat General Hospital seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse to deliver compassionate care across acute care units, including Medical Surgical, Pediatrics, Maternity, Special Care, Palliative Care and Emergency Outpatients.

Under the Unit Manager's direction, you will provide total nursing care, participate in unit activities, and support patient-centered care in a multidisciplinary team. This role supports Northern Health's commitment to high-quality, accessible care across BC.

Qualifications

  • Registered with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Experience across all levels of care preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certificate preferred.
  • Maternity experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide total nursing care for patients under your charge and participate in unit activities.
  • Deliver compassionate patient care across Medical Surgical, Pediatrics, Maternity, Special Care, Palliative Care and Emergency Outpatients.
  • Support and participate in mNPR staffing initiative to improve working environments.

Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at the Kitimat General Hospital.

Under the direction of the Unit Manager of the Nurse in Charge of the Acute Care Unit, is responsible for the total nursing care rendered to the patients in her/his charge, and participation in the general activities of the Acute Care Unit. Work areas include Medical Surgical, Pediatrics, Maternity, Special Care, Palliative Care and Emergency Outpatients.

A first in Canada: minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios (mNPR) are starting in B.C.! Northern Health, along side other health authorities, is implementing mNPR as a transformative staffing solution that aims to improve the working environment of nurses in order to provide better quality care to our patients.

Qualfications
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Previous experience in all levels of care.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate preferred.
  • Previous experience in Maternity preferred.
