Job summary

Southlake Health in Newmarket is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a permanent, part-time position. The RN will model clinical excellence and collaborate within an interprofessional team to deliver quality patient care.

You will assess patients, develop and evaluate plans of care, participate in nursing education, orient new staff, and help ensure patient flow in a fast-paced acute medical setting. The role requires CNO registration, BCLS, and relevant certifications; CC1/CC2 timelines apply.

Qualifications

• Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Current BCLS certificate required.
• BScN preferred.
• ACLS certificate preferred.
• CC1 or equivalent to be completed within 3 months of hire.
• CC2 to be completed within 1 year of hire.
• Excellent assessment skills and decision-making abilities.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and in an interprofessional team.

What you’ll be doing

• Practices collaboratively with members of the healthcare team to provide elements of care for patients/clients with complex health issues.

• Provides consultation and/or clinical support to peers as needed.
• Contributes to the assessment and documentation of each patient's health status on an ongoing basis.
• Assists in the development and implementation of the Plan of Care and evaluates its ongoing effectiveness.
• Assists in the orientation/preceptorship of new staff members and students to the clinical units.
• Acts as a role model and champion to identify and integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.
• Takes a leadership role in the coordination of patient care in assigned area
• Assumes charge nurse role when assigned

What you bring

• Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse
• Current BCLS certificate required
• BScN preferred
• Current ACLS certificate preferred
• CC1 or equivalent to be successfully completed within three (3) months of hire date
• CC2 to be successfully completed within one (1) year of hire date
