Job Overview
As a vital member of our interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive patient care under the guidance of a Physician and the Nurse Supervisor. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care that is evidence-based, patient-centered, culturally sensitive, and aligned with best practices.
The RN collaborates closely with healthcare professionals in a safe and secure environment, ensuring quality care for client undergoing treatment for mental health and addiction challenges. With a strong emphasis on communication, critical thinking, and compassionate care, the RN builds therapeutic relationships with patients and their families while advocating for their health and well-being.
Key Responsibilities :
Delivering client care according to the College of Nurses.
Providing ongoing client care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning implementation and evaluation.
Formulating and implementing client care plans.
Safely implementing physician's orders.
Administering medications to clients.
Maintaining current progress records on clients according to legal and ethical standards.
Orientating, facilitating and reinforcing client's involvement in addiction treatment.
Decide and initiate on course of action in case of medical emergencies
Providing supportive counselling to clients, families and / or significant others on typical recovery issues.
Maintain a therapeutic environment on the unit conducive to the client learning productive patterns of living.
Providing ongoing health teaching to clients in relation to common health problems and the clients maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Co-ordinate individual client appointments and referrals.
Actively participate with team members in the assessment, planning and evaluation of the client and his care.
Assisting the public with crisis intervention and information on addiction.
Perform other duties as outlined on shift duty lists and as assigned by the Nursing Supervisor.
Qualifications :
Graduate of an accredited school of Nurses with pharmacological training
Registered Nurse in the Province
Current basic CPR
Recent clinical experience, including medication administration and leadership duties
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis
Leadership / Charge experience preferred
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Good problem solving and decision-making skills
Demonstrated use of proper body mechanics and ability to perform heavy lifting
Experience with a team based person-centered care approach
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
