Job description

Registered Nurse (RN), Brachytherapy Perioperative, RT Program
BC Cancer, Kelowna, BC

Utilizing theory-based practice, the General Duty Staff Nurse in Radiation Therapy provides nursing care including patient assessment, education about treatment, process, side effects, and perioperative nursing care for surgical patients.

What you’ll do
  1. Provide direct patient care through assessment, reviewing history, and developing tailored care plans. Refer or consult with other healthcare professionals as needed.
  2. Serve as a scrub or circulating nurse for surgical procedures in the Brachytherapy Area.
  3. Manage patient admissions, transfers, and discharges according to policies and directives.
  4. Maintain comprehensive records of patient care, observations, communications, and education.
  5. Assist patients in understanding their treatment plans and inform them of available services.
  6. Ensure a safe environment by following emergency and safety protocols.
  7. Update and develop your clinical knowledge and professional skills collaboratively.
What you bring

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an approved Nursing School and current registration as an RN with BCCNM.
  • Specialized training or experience in operating room nursing.

You have:

  • Relevant clinical knowledge and application skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to organize care and prioritize tasks.
  • Skills in CPR and IV therapy.
  • Awareness of and commitment to Indigenous cultural safety, reconciliation, and related social issues, including understanding of the TRC Calls to Action and BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.

Wage: $41.42 to $59.52 per hour

Location: 399 Royal Ave, Kelowna, BC

Hours: Monday-Friday, 0700-1500 / 0730-1530
