Responsibilities

Applications are accepted year-round, but we encourage you to apply during your last semester of nursing school. Start dates depend on licensure, onboarding, unit availability, and your personal preference.

All newly licensed RNs with less than six months of acute RN experience at the time of application are required to participate in the RN Residency program. Newly licensed nurses must apply for the Registered Nurse Residency position.

Responsibilities include functioning as a Registered Nurse per Iowa Nursing Regulations and Practice Act, providing nursing care, and maintaining a practice environment aligned with the ANA Code for Nurses, UnityPoint Health's Philosophy of Nursing, and the Professional Nurse Practice Model, in collaboration with other caregivers. Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Newly licensed nurse within the last 6 months or RN with less than 6 months of acute RN experience.
  • Current licensure in good standing in Iowa.
  • Completion of residency within the first 12 months of employment.
  • Ability to perform medium work as defined by the Department of Labor (exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly).
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension).
