The Clinical Care Program is seeking a part-time, temporary (12 months) Registered Nurse to work in the Psychosis Recovery and Treatment Unit 7 (PRT 7). As a member of an inter-professional team, you will provide client-centered psychiatric and general nursing care, ensuring safety and security of the client care environment. You will practice in accordance with College of Nurses of Ontario standards, Canadian Standards for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing, CAMH policies, and relevant legislation.
Using a primary nursing model, you will perform assessments, develop, implement, and evaluate interdisciplinary care plans for clients with schizophrenia. You will coordinate care with other services and community agencies, work with clients from diverse backgrounds, contribute to program development, and support research activities. Your skills include behavioral observations, mental and physical assessments, and monitoring responses to interventions. Knowledge of crisis intervention, psychosocial rehabilitation, and severe mental illnesses is essential. You should be able to develop and evaluate care plans and support a diverse, team-oriented, and compliant workplace. The position involves 12-hour shifts, including weekends, located at the Queen Street Site.
The successful candidate must be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario, hold a current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate, and preferably possess or be pursuing a B.Sc.N and CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. Excellent communication, interpersonal, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required. Experience with mental illness and addictions, working with diverse populations, and computer literacy are necessary. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language is an asset.
Please Note: This is a part-time, temporary (12 months) position at 0.6 FTE, with potential for additional hours based on operational needs. This position is part of the ONA Bargaining Unit.
