Position Summary
The ARCC SA/DV nurse is as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing inclusive services to adults and youth who have been affected by sexual assault/abuse and or domestic violence.
Working from a feminist analysis of violence, provides specialized nursing care, including treatment options, psychosocial intervention, information on legal options, crisis counselling, and support to victims of sexual assault and partner assault.
Collects forensic evidence and provides follow up care as per the SA/DV mandate and (as guided by the Ontario Network of SA/DVTC)
Taking shifts on the nursing on-call rotation is an expectation. Act as a liaison with the emergency department.
Provides educational presentations and will participate in community development initiatives undertaken by ARCC. Represent the Centre on various boards and committees.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- BSCN degree required
- 3-5 years clinical experience
- Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) designation preferred
- Adherence to a feminist analysis of violence
- Knowledge of legal system justice as it pertains to sexual assault and domestic violence an asset
- Clinical experience working with survivors of sexual and partner violence with an understanding of rural issues

- Driver’s license and vehicle required
- Must be able to attend hospital within one hour of call-back
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, internet knowledge, and virtual care skills
