Job summary

Collingwood General & Marine Hospital in Collingwood, Ontario, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the PACU on a temporary part-time basis (approximately 3 months). The role involves preoperative assessments, PACU monitoring, education, and close collaboration with surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure safe patient recovery.

You will work 8-hour shifts across days, evenings, weekends with on-call coverage, earning $41.15 to $58.98 per hour.

Qualifications

• Current RN registration with College of Nurses of Ontario.
• BCLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• PACU certificate or plan to obtain within 6 months.
• Critical Care or Emergency certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preoperative assessments and prepare patients for surgery.
• Educate patients on the surgical process, recovery expectations, and postoperative care.
• Monitor and assess patients recovering from anesthesia in the PACU.
• Manage vital signs, oxygenation, pain control, and patient comfort.
• Identify and respond to postoperative complications as needed.
• Collaborate with surgical and anesthesia teams to support safe recovery.
• Assess discharge readiness and provide wound care and follow-up instructions.
• Educate patients and families throughout the surgical journey.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to maintain patient safety and high standards.

WhatYou’ll Bring

Required

• Current Certificate ofRegistration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses ofOntario
• Minimum of two year ofrecent critical care nursing experience
• Current BCLS and ACLScertification
• PACU Certificate (or willingnesstoobtain within 6 months of hire)
• Critical Care or Emergency Certification

Preferred

• Knowledge of current NAPANstandards
