Registered Nurse, Operating Room Surgical Suite

What you'll do

  1. Plan direct care for the patient by reviewing patient/family history, developing a care plan, and collaborating with the healthcare team.
  2. Provide direct patient care following ORNAC standards and in partnership with the interprofessional team.
  3. Maintain patient records by documenting relevant healthcare information, observations, interventions, and evaluations.
  4. Participate in orientation and ongoing education of new team members, role modeling, precepting, and mentoring.
  5. Contribute to rounds, committees, and professional practice groups as a team member.
  6. Provide input on policies and procedures to meet patient and family needs while promoting resource efficiency.
  7. Ensure a safe environment by adhering to ORNAC standards and emergency protocols.
  8. Support nursing research and quality improvement initiatives through participation in interprofessional committees.
  9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

What you bring

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and current registration as an RN with BCCNM.
  • Post-graduate certification in Operating Room Nursing or equivalent experience.
  • CPR (BCLS Level I) and PALS certifications.
  • Minimum one year of operating room experience.

Additional skills include effective communication, teamwork, physical ability to perform duties, and operating related equipment. Knowledge of Indigenous cultural safety and commitment to reconciliation are considered assets.
