Alberta Health Services in Sturgeon Community Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide a wide range of nursing services to patients, families and communities. You will use nursing processes with critical thinking and decision making, and advocate for patients and families.
In the operating room unit, you will lead care teams and support an integrated, holistic approach to patient care, upholding safety and quality standards.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values.PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program.Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Previous operating room experience including scrub and circulating functions in a Surgical Suite setting is required. Peri operative course is required or a minimum of 2 years current experience in the scrub/circulatory role within a Surgical Suite. Current experience is defined as working in a OR setting within the past 2 years. The ability to cope and effectively perform in stressful and/or emergency situations is essential. The incumbent must possess leadership and decision-making ability and be able to exercise sound judgement and use initiative. Good interpersonal and public relations skills as well as good communication skills, oral and written are essential. Good organization and coordination skills required. The position is very physically demanding. Must be able to lift, pull, and push more than 25 lbs. There is a lot of above shoulder requirement for prepping and positioning of patients.
Recent peri-operative nursing experience with General Surgery. Orthopedics and OB /GYN is an asset.
