Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care to patients in the Operating Room.
  • Conduct pre-operative assessments and planning.
  • Deliver intra-operative interventions and post-operative evaluations.

HOURS OF WORK:

The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The RN, as one of the providers of health care, has a unique role in promoting health, in preventing illness, and in helping clients attain and maintain the highest level of health possible. S/he is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients, with predictable and unpredictable outcomes who may or may not be clinically stable. The RN practices in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario Professional Standards.

The scope of the Operating Room nursing practice takes in those nursing activities that assist the individual surgical patient in a conscious or unconscious state. These activities are directed toward providing continuity of care through pre-operative assessment and planning, intra-operative intervention and post-operative evaluation.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
  • Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Post graduate OR course or Perioperative Nursing Certificate and recent OR experience preferred
  • Current BCLS
