A regional healthcare facility in Hamilton, Ontario, is seeking a Perinatal Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care during antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum periods. The role involves assessing patient needs, providing education, and supporting women through labor and delivery. Candidates must hold a valid Nursing degree and have certifications in BCLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring. This temporary position is critical in caring for patients, ensuring safety and support for mothers and newborns.

The Labour and Delivery Unit at Hamilton Health Sciences is a family-centered tertiary care facility which provides support and care to women and their families living in the Central-South region of Ontario. Care is provided during the antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum phases of pregnancy for women and their families who have experienced complications during pregnancy and to women and their families who have not experienced complications. Two areas make up the Labour and Delivery area; a 5-bed Outpatient Assessment Area and an inpatient area which consists of 9 Labour/Delivery/Recovery Rooms, 2 Operating Rooms, an Obstetrical Post Anesthetic Care Unit and a Neonatal Resuscitation Area.

The Perinatal Nurse assesses, analyzes, prioritizes, plans and evaluates care in collaboration with women and families in both normal and complex situations. Nursing care includes antenatal care, intrapartum care, immediate postpartum care, breastfeeding support, infant care and care following perinatal loss.
