Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Health Services, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing professional registered nursing services for patients, including those with complex and unpredictable health needs. These services include independent nursing services, administration of prescribed medical treatments, a leadership role within the healthcare team, and facilitating coordination of patient care and discharge. Demonstrates a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the region / facility / unit.

Certification / Licensure / Registration

  • Active participation in professional associations (e.g., ARNM) preferred.
  • CPR Training requirements as per employer policy.
Qualifications And Skills
  • Ability to speak and read French at a predetermined linguistic level.
  • Knowledge of :
  • Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses (College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba).
  • Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses (Canadian Nurses Association).
  • Community Health Nurse Standards of Practice & Home Health Competencies, RHPA guidelines, and related legislation (PHIA, Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act).
  • WHMIS, universal precautions, and other required acts; knowledge of regional / facility / unit policies and guidelines.
  • Effective communication and ability to delegate and supervise delegated care outcomes.
Language and Bilingual Designation
  • Position designated bilingual; if bilingualism requirements are not met, candidates meeting all other requirements may be considered.
Physical Requirements
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort may be required.
Conditions of Employment
  • Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check are conditions of employment. Security checks must be current within six (6) months prior to start date. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.
