The role requires current Ontario nursing registration, BCLS, IV venipuncture certification, and telemetry training, with recent medical-floor experience preferred.
Medical 3C is a 40-bed medical unit specializing in adult patients, with a strong focus on stroke recovery and cardiac care. This unit provides comprehensive care for individuals recovering from strokes, myocardial infarctions (MIs), congestive heart failure (CHF), and those requiring continuous cardiac monitoring for conditions such as atrial fibrillation or dysrhythmias. The care model emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach, incorporating daily rounds to create tailored care plans that address each patient’s unique needs. Staffing levels are optimized to ensure high-quality care, typically with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5 during the day, slightly higher at night. This structure promotes patient safety, with particular focus on thorough bedside handoffs and continuous monitoring to ensure proactive and responsive care.
Note: Because of the changing nature of the work and work to be done, other responsibilities and duties may be assigned and qualifications may be adjusted from time to time.
Nurses will be selected on the basis of their skill, ability, experience and qualifications as identified in the resume which they have attached to the posting application form. The Hospital reserves the right to conduct a formal interview and/or testing where required.
