Rotation/Shifts

Days and nights, including weekends, 12 hour shifts.

Basic Requirements

  • Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Two (2) years critical care nursing experience;
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuing education and a willingness to actively participate in departmental educational activities;
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of the nursing process and the ability to apply this process to the practice of nursing;
  • Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of the care of the general patient in the unit and the ability to apply this knowledge in a clinical setting;
  • Demonstrates the ability to asses the patient's learning needs and ability to plan appropriate teaching;
  • Demonstrates the ability to work autonomously and within the multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment;
  • Demonstrates a professional and respectful attitude to patients, the public and colleagues;
  • Demonstrates well developed communication and interpersonal skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years medical surgical nursing experience and has successfully completed a critical care program or consolidation in critical care;
  • Recent courses in coronary care, critical care; UoHI Cardiac Nursing Series;
  • Experience reading and interpreting 12 lead ECG's;
  • Member RNAO;
  • Member CCCN.
