Job summary

CHEO in Ottawa is seeking a pediatric surgical nurse for part-time hours. The nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care using the nursing process, aligned with College of Nurses of Ontario standards and CHEO policies. Role includes teaching families to promote wellness and optimal life quality.

The Inpatient Surgical Unit uses self scheduling by seniority for part-time positions, with bilingual communication preferred. Relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

  • Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Essential)
  • Current CPR Certification (Essential)
  • Bilingual (English/French) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for individual patients/families.
  • Use the nursing process and standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario and CHEO.
  • Provide learning experiences for patients and families to promote wellness and quality of life.

Job description

Compensation Pay Range: $41.15-$58.98

Position Summary

In keeping with the mission statement of the hospital and the patient service unit, the nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for individual patients/families. Effectively uses the nursing process. Practices according to the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Hospital, and the patient service unit. Provides appropriate learning experiences for the patient and family to promote or maintain wellness, and to achieve an optimal quality of life. Is accountable for maintaining competence while developing the quality of his/ her professional nursing practice. The Inpatient Surgical Unit part time employees schedule shifts through self scheduling as per seniority.

Qualification
  • Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Essential)
  • Current CPR Certification (Essential)
  • Minimum 1 year pediatric surgery experience (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills (Essential)
  • Demonstrated culturally sensitive approach to nursing care (Essential)
  • Demonstrated strong family centered care skills (Essential)
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
  • Bilingual (English/ French) (Preferred)
