UHN is seeking a registered nurse to support hemodialysis services at the E.W. Bickle Centre in Toronto. The role delivers high-quality patient care, develops care plans, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, along with mentorship of new staff and adherence to patient safety standards. A permanent full-time position with 37.5 hours weekly.

Toronto Rehabilitation provides hemodialysis at Bickle Centre site. The unit provides hemodialysis for patients who are post-acute care hospitalization. These patients are attending Low Tolerance and Long Duration (LTLD), Geriatric rehabilitation or Complex Continuing Care. We provide daily and conventional hemodialysisThe nurse is to provide safe and competent care through application of nursing knowledge specific to hemodialysis, technical aspects of professional practice and demonstrates professionalism and respect Responsible for the assessment, nursing diagnosis, integrated care plan development, implementation and evaluation of nursing care. Participate in professional, program and hospital wide initiatives, including self professional development Provides leadership, supervision and mentorship to new staff when needed Compliance with and commitment to patient’s safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital plans, policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients
BSCN preferred Member in good standing with College of Nurses Nephrology Nursing Certification CNeph or willing to complete within 2 years Current Hemodialysis Experience preferred Member of CANNT Excellent patient assessment skills Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support ( C level) Heart Saver Plus (Canada) Superior clinical decision-making skills that reflect patient centredness, problem solving and critical thinking Demonstrates knowledge, skill and judgement in the application of hemodialysis Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of nursing standards as they apply to the care of patients with chronic kidney disease Computer proficiency is required or willing to pursue computer training Proficiency with the EPIC electronic health record (EHR) system is an asset. Ability to identify and meet own learning needs for pursuing ongoing professional development
