Job summary

Providence Care Hospital in Kingston, Ontario is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver direct professional nursing care for patients requiring complex mental health services. The RN will implement autonomous nursing actions within the nursing process and collaborate with families and the clinical team to support the patient’s journey toward independence and wellness.

Requirements include active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, BSc.N.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• BSc.N. preferred.
• Must have recent experience in an acute psychiatric setting.
• Must have current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Completing a nursing history based on information received from the patient, family and other sources.
• Developing and recording a comprehensive goal oriented nursing care plan in collaboration with the patient based on assessed needs and prescribed medical regime.
• Developing therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Accurately following the prescribed medical regime.
• Recognizes, analyzes, interprets and manages deviations from the predicted client response.
• Revising nursing care plans based on evaluation using professional judgment and autonomous decision-making.
