Job summary

AdventHealth Riverview in Florida seeks an experienced RN to join the perioperative team. The role covers pre- and postoperative assessment, intraoperative support, and patient monitoring, with emphasis on safety and confidentiality.

The position requires at least 1+ year in acute care, 2+ in the specialty, RN license, and BLS. Day shift, full-time, with on-site work and potential call.

Qualifications

• RN licensure required and BLS certification.
• Associate's degree in nursing is required, Bachelor's preferred.
• 1+ year nursing in acute care; 2+ in specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assures appropriate traffic control in the operating room.
• Initiates incident reporting mechanisms when indicated.
• Promotes positive intra- and interdepartmental relations; assists with orientation of new staff.
• Performs specialized nursing care in all phases of the perioperative role.
• Assists with pre- and postoperative assessment and updates preference cards.
• Performs surgical counts and prepares OR setup; recognizes abnormal lab data.

Job Description:

• Up to $10K Sign on Bonus (if eligible)
• Up to $10K Relocation Bonus (if eligible)
• 10 or 12 hour shift shifts
• Weekends/Holidays will be call basis
• Will require call
• Assures appropriate traffic control in the operating room.
• Initiates the incident reporting mechanisms when indicated.
• Utilizes appropriate channels of communication when initiating change, reporting information or concerns.
• Promotes and contributes positively to intra and interdepartmental relations. Assists with the orientation of new employees and assumes unit responsibility when delegated by the nursing manager or director.
• Performs specialized nursing care in all phases of the peri-operative role.
• Assists with pre-and postoperative assessment of the patient and updates preference cards as needed.
• Performs surgical counts per policy and prepares operating room setup. Recognizes abnormal diagnostic laboratory data, blood gas values, radiologic data, and knows the implied significance of each.
• Recognizes emergency situations and reacts efficiently and appropriately.
• Assures patients' right to privacy, safety, and confidentiality at all times.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Computer proficiency required.
• Perioperative Nursing required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills required.
• At least two (2) years circulating and/or scrub experience required in a multi-specialty setting.
• Previous experience and working knowledge of computerized documentation required.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time required.
• Ability to consistently demonstrate clear communication skills and strong anticipatory skills required.
• Manual dexterity, lifting, pulling, pushing of equipment, heavy instrument sets, and patients required.

Education:

• Associate's of Nursing [Required]
• Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]

Field of Study:

• Nursing

Work Experience:

• 1+ of general nursing experience in an acute care setting. [Preferred]
• 2+ of nursing experience in the required specialty [Preferred]
