Qualifications

Rotation/Shifts

Days and nights, including weekends, 12 hour shifts.

Basic Requirements

  • Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Ability to perform BCLS to the College of Nurses Standard;
  • Minimum three (3) months Medical/Surgical experience;
  • Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of the nursing process and care of patients with neurological disease and ability to apply this knowledge in a clinical setting;
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess the patients learning needs and ability to plan appropriate teaching;
  • Demonstrates the ability to participate as an effective member of the health care team;
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in an oral and written format with patients, public, colleagues and other health disciplines;
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuing education activities;
  • Demonstrates and understanding and a willingness to participate in self evaluation and commitment to work towards established goals and objectives;
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the vision, values and goals of The Ottawa Hospital;
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Neuroscience Nursing experience;
  • CANN certification;
  • BScN.
