Job summary

Brightshores Health System in Wiarton, Ontario, is seeking a part-time, temporary Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department (approx. end date July 2027).

Qualifications

• Active RN registration with the Ontario College of Nurses or eligibility.
• Ability to interpret basic arrhythmias and work on Medical/Surgical unit as required.
• Current ACLS, PALS, BCLS, CTAS or willingness to obtain them.
• Strong leadership, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate with patients, families and other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Provide care on the Emergency Department with assessment, planning and treatment to promote health.
• Support safety and quality initiatives while delivering compassionate patient care.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care across shifts.

Education

Nursing registration or licensure (Ontario)

Arrhythmia interpretation

Medical/Surgical unit experience

Emergencies certifications (ACLS, PALS, BCLS, CTAS)

Team leadership & communication

WAGE RATE: $41.15 - $58.98

Reporting to the site Manager, the Registered Nurse is responsible for the promotion of health and the assessment of, the provision of care of, and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means to patients in order to attain or maintain optimal function.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

Required

• Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or eligibility
• Ability and willingness to interpret basic arrhythmias
• Ability and willingness to work on Medical/Surgical Unit as required
• Current certification in or willingness to obtain:
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • BCLS
  • CTAS
  • Delegated medical acts
• Leadership, problem solving, decision-making, critical thinking and interpersonal skills
• Assessment and interviewing skills
• Ability and willingness to escort patients via ambulance services when required
• Ability and willingness to flex time to meet unit, staff and patient needs
• Ability and willingness to work in a team environment and contribute to continuous quality improvement
• Ability and willingness to work all shifts
• Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
• Basic computer knowledge
• Participation in staff meetings and unit specific projects
• Communication and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
• Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
