For full-time, permanent nurses, recruitment bonuses include: $5,000 on start date, $5,000 at 18 months of service and $10,000 at 30 months of service. Additional premiums include a $9,000 Annual Frontline Allowance and a $375 Monthly Retention Bonus of $4,500 per year. For Job shares, bonuses/allowances are pro-rated in accordance with hours worked.

Position: The Registered Nurse (RN), Emergency Department, is a member of a multi-disciplinary team. This position is responsible for assessing patient health status and responding to actual and potential health problems including emergent and critical situations on an ongoing basis.
Responsibilities
RNs provide quality nursing care within their scope of practice as outlined by the professional licensing body, CANNN. Using evidenced based practice, RNs provide competent, independent nursing care while maintaining professional accountability. RNs coordinate by collaborating with other health care team members to ensure patients regain optimal functioning of well-being and quality of life as members of society within an appropriate time frame. This position directly impacts the delivery of acute care health needs to patients within by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating all services provided to patients within the acute care setting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a Bachelor or Diploma in Nursing, plus one (1) year of experience in Emergency Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, or related experience. Graduates from the Nunavut Arctic College Nursing Program, who passed the NCLEX exam, and are enrolled in the Nunavut’s Graduate Nursing Residency Program will also be considered. Candidates must be eligible to register with CANNN. The incumbent must attend/successfully complete the Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within six months of hire. These mandatory certifications are to be renewed as per course guidelines for renewal.

Languages
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. The ability to communicate in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
