Are you interested in working in a fast-paced, exciting Emergency Department (ED)? The new $85 million Misericordia (MCH) ED opened in November 2023. It is a large urban ED within Edmonton, open 24/7, located next to West Edmonton Mall (WEM) and the future Valley Line West LRT expansion. Our interdisciplinary team is dedicated to providing high-quality, patient- and family-centered care for urgent and emergent concerns. In this role, you may be required to work in any area of the ED at the discretion of the manager and/or charge nurse.
The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in assessments, care planning, implementing treatments, administering medications, and monitoring patient responses. Acting as an advocate and coordinator, the RN collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to identify needs and set priorities. The RN also facilitates patient and family education, discharge planning, and may act as a charge nurse. The RN provides care according to established standards, policies, and Covenant Health’s mission, vision, and values. This position is covered by the UNA Collective Agreement.
- Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent.
- Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C).
- If not practiced as a RN within the last 5 years, completion of CRNA Medication Administration and NextGenU Health Assessment courses is required.
- Emergency experience required; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods, assist with patient transport, and perform physical tasks such as lifting and bending.
- Charge nurse experience preferred.
- ENA Emergency Nursing Certificate preferred.
- Advanced practice courses (ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ITLS, etc.) preferred.
- Intravenous (IV) certification, Connect Care EHR/EPIC training, ENPEP, and CTAS training preferred (required upon hire).
