St. Joseph's Health Care London is seeking a Registered Nurse (Clinical Scholar) for the Professional Practice unit at the Southwest Centre for Forensic Mental Health Care in St. Thomas, ON.

This temporary part-time role focuses on mentorship and advancing nursing practice. The Clinical Scholar Nurse will work with the Manager, Nurse Educators, Advanced Practice Nurses, and the Professional Practice team to support clinical practice, integrate evidence-based reasoning, and assist with staff

Competenze

• Valid registration as a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Minimum five years recent, related experience.
• Demonstrated excellence in clinical practice with knowledge and engagement of current evidence-based practice.
• Valid CPR certificate.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, interpersonal skills, team building, change management, and conflict management skills.
• Effective interpersonal, coaching and communication skills to work within an interprofessional team.
• Highly developed critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in computer software applications (i.e., Microsoft Office 365, Cerner).
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and solve problems efficiently.
• Demonstrated planning and evaluation skills.

• Commitment to patient- and family-centered care.
• Ability to attend work regularly.
• Knowledge of Safety Culture in healthcare per OHSA.

Temporary Part Time

Salary Range: $41.15 - $58.98 /hour

Full Time are eligible to apply

This is a Temporary Part-Time position expected to extend until November 30, 2027, Subject to availability.

The Clinical Scholar Nurse (CSN) is an experienced nurse who can lead and model quality patient care and professionalism to nurses interested in mentorship.

The primary role of the CSN is to work collaboratively with the Manager, Nurse Educators, Advanced Practice Nurses, and Professional Practice team to support nursing colleagues. The CSN is responsible for supporting nursing practice and the integration of clinical reasoning and critical thinking into the clinical area in accordance with organizational and professional standards, and in collaboration with clinical teams. The CSN will not have a patient caseload and will support the integration of nurses within clinical teams as a supernumerary position.

Essential Qualifications

• Valid registration as a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Minimum five years recent, related experience
• Demonstrated excellence in clinical practice with knowledge and engagement of current evidence-based practice
• Valid CPR certificate
• Demonstrated leadership skills, interpersonal skills, team building, change management, and conflict management skills
• Effective interpersonal, coaching and communication skills (both written and verbal) to effectively work within an interprofessional team setting
• Highly developed critical thinking skills and ability to conceptualize, analyze, and solve problems
• Proficiency in computer software applications (i.e., Microsoft Office 365, Cerner)
• Demonstrated excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and problem-solve in a timely and efficient manner
• Demonstrated planning and evaluation skills
• Demonstrated behavior supporting organizational core values; respect, trust and collaboration
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
• Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
• Ability and commitment to act as a supervisor under OHSA

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in clinical nurse training/education and group/meeting facilitation
• Demonstrated experience in providing adult education
• Proficiency in French would be an asset
