Job summary

St. Joseph's Health Care London is seeking a Clinical Scholar Nurse for Parkwood Institute Mental Health Care in London, ON. This temporary full-time role supports nursing practice, mentors staff, and collaborates with clinical teams to integrate evidence-based care.

The CSN will not carry a patient caseload but will supervise and assist in nurse education, leadership development, and adherence to OHSA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Valid registration as a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Minimum five years recent, related experience.
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills; ability to work in an interprofessional team.
• CPR certificate required.
• Proficiency in common computer applications (Microsoft Office, Cerner).

Salary Range: $41.15 - $58.98 /hour

This is a Temporary Full-Time position expected to extend until November 15, 2028, Subject to availability.

The Clinical Scholar Nurse (CSN) is an experienced nurse who can lead and model quality patient care and professionalism to nurses interested in mentorship.

The primary role of the CSN is to work collaboratively with the Managers, Nurse Educators, Advanced Practice Nurses, and Professional Practice team to support nursing colleagues. The CSN is responsible for supporting nursing practice and the integration of clinical reasoning and critical thinking into the clinical area in accordance with organizational and professional standards, and in collaboration with clinical teams. The CSN will not have a patient caseload and will support the integration of nurses within clinical teams as a supernumerary position.

Essential Qualifications

• Valid registration as a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Minimum five years recent, related experience
• Demonstrated excellence in clinical practice with knowledge and engagement of current evidence-based practice
• Valid CPR certificate
• Demonstrated leadership skills, interpersonal skills, team building, change management, and conflict management skills
• Effective interpersonal, coaching and communication skills (both written and verbal) to effectively work within an interprofessional team setting
• Highly developed critical thinking skills and ability to conceptualize, analyze, and solve problems
• Proficiency in computer software applications (i.e., Microsoft Office 365, Cerner)
• Demonstrated excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and problem-solve in a timely and efficient manner
• Demonstrated planning and evaluation skills
• Demonstrated behavior supporting organizational core values; respect, trust and collaboration
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
• Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
• Ability and commitment to act as a supervisor under OHSA

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in clinical nurse training/education and group/meeting facilitation
• Demonstrated experience in providing adult education
• Proficiency in French would be an asset
