Job summary

The Royal in Ottawa is seeking a Resource Team Registered Nurse who can float to all hospital units as needed. The role requires current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and up to 3 months of nursing experience, with strong mental health and addiction knowledge.

Candidates should understand MHA legislation and psychiatric nursing standards, possess CPR/BCLS certification, and demonstrate leadership, problem solving and teamwork in dynamic clinical settings.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Up to 3 months Nursing Experience.
• Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues.

About the Program/Position

As a Resource Team RN, you will be available to float to all units of the hospital as required.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Up to 3 months Nursing Experience
• Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues
• Clear understanding of MHA and relevant legislation
• Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in psychiatric nursing practice as articulated in the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice.
• Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues with specific knowledge about physical/medical compilations related to mental health and addictions
• Able to meet the standards of nursing practice of the College of Nurses
• CPR certification within the last 12 months (BCLS at a minimum)
• Evidence of continuing professional education
• Effective verbal and written communications skills
• Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Problem solving, leadership and management skills in responding to complex and rapidly changing situations
• Sensitivity, skills and experience working with diverse individuals and communities

Preferred:

• Certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
• Experience in Mental Health and/or addictions
• Membership and active participation in a professional nursing organization (RNAO)
• Experience with evidence-based nursing care to youth with early onset mental illness

Language Requirements

• English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, comprehension, reading andwriting. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset
