Job summary

The Royal is seeking a Resource Team Registered Practical Nurse to float across hospital units as needed, delivering patient-centered care within the Ontario RPN scope. You will collaborate with an inter-disciplinary team to support safe, effective care and participate in ongoing professional development.

Requirements include an Ontario Practical Nursing diploma, current CNO registration, CPR/AED within 2 years, CPI training, and a commitment to ongoing learning.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a recognized Diploma Program in Practical Nursing.
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Knowledge of CNO Standards regarding RPN scope of practice.
• Understanding of MHA and relevant legislation.
• CPR/AED Certification within the last 2 years.
• Completion of Prevention of Violence in the Workplace training (CPI) required.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Technical skills: glucometer reading, vital signs, injections, physical and mental health assessment, catheterization, medication administration, O2, wound care, suctioning, safe patient handling, bladder scanning, ECT recovery, skin care and feeding.
• Ability to develop therapeutic relations with patients; function in an inter-disciplinary team; basic computer skills.

Preferred:

• Knowledge of mechanical lifts, transferring and positioning techniques

Language Requirements

English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, comprehension, reading and writing. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset
