Job Description
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Rural Health Manager, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients as a member of a multidisciplinary team; is responsible and accountable for coordinating and administering direct patient care utilizing the nursing process; provides direction to staff and volunteers; and responds to emergency situations to safeguard patients, visitors and staff in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards for Nursing Practice.
Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant. Two (2) years' recent related experience including in medical/surgical and emergency settings; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience..
Basic Life Support, Level C required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support for Emergency Room preferred.
Valid BC Driver's License.
