Job summary

Assisted Living Alberta is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Lethbridge Integrated Home Care team. You will deliver a broad range of nursing services, apply nursing processes with clinical judgment, and lead patient-centered care while aligning with the organization’s vision and values.

You will support an integrated and holistic approach to health promotion, with emphasis on safety, advocacy and education for patients and families. Provisional and full permits are addressed with UNA alignment.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Your Opportunity

In your role you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications
  • Home Care Case Management experience within the last 2 years.
  • Knowledge of and skills in applying Home Care Nursing Practice Standards.
  • Knowledge of Continuing Care Health Service Standards.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Working independently and as member of a team.
  • Working with people in a health care environment modeling professionalism and respect.
  • Positive approach and good listening skills in dealing with challenges using empathy and sincerity.
  • Understand principles of Palliative Care, Knowledge of Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) Program, as well as Living Options Assessment.
  • Ability to perform all assigned tasks, direct clinical care including but not limited to: Constant adjustment of position (sit/stand) throughout the shift.
  • Physical exertion including bending/walking/sitting or standing for long periods of time.
  • Keyboarding/moussing documentations for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation.
  • Experience in Home Parenteral Therapy (HPT), wound, skin and ostomy care, palliative support and client teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred: however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered.
  • Recent geriatric clinical experience.
  • Knowledge of the process for SMC, CDHCI and DH programs within the Home Care Portfolio would be a benefit.
  • Knowledge of the EPIC -Connect Care charting system would be an asset.
