A healthcare organization in Edmonton seeks a Registered Nurse to join the Surgical Program team. The role involves providing compassionate care in a fast-paced surgical unit, participating in assessments, treatment implementation, and patient education. Candidates should have a Registered Nurse program education and registration with CRNA. Additional qualifications in acute inpatient care and excellent interpersonal skills are required.
Your Opportunity :
As a member of the Surgical Program team, you will have an opportunity to participate in providing care to a diverse group of patients and families. 5 East is a fast-paced surgical unit that supports all surgical services at the site, this includes urology, gynecology, plastics, general surgery, ow intensity orthopedic surgery and medicine off-service patients. As a Registered nurse on 5 East provides safe and compassionate care in a learning environment. This role is an integral part of our care team providing leadership, mentorship and education to patients, families and colleagues.
The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments, and monitoring / documenting treatment progress and patient / resident response. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient / resident, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN facilitates patient / resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity. The RN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.
Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. One year of recent (within the last 2 years) of adult acute inpatient experience and / or a recent successful preceptorship in surgical / orthopaedic may be considered (within the last 2 years). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent assessment and organizational skills.
Two years of recent (within 3 years) of adult acute inpatient surgical / orthopedic experience required. Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC) Line education an asset. Negative pressure wound therapy education as asset. Inpatient Connect Care trained. Charge trained.
