Job summary

Recovery Alberta is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Addiction Recovery Centre in Edmonton. You will perform assessments, triage, administer medications, monitor withdrawal, and adapt care plans while ensuring safety in a medical detox unit.

The role requires trauma-informed, client-centered care, strong clinical and communication skills, and the ability to respond to behavioral emergencies.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
• Minimum 1-2 years' clinical experience in acute care, mental health or addiction treatment.
• Current NVCI. Current Connect Care experience.

Job description

The Addiction Recovery Centre (ARC) is a voluntary medical detox program providing a safe, therapeutic environment for individuals withdrawing from alcohol and other substances. We are seeking experienced, compassionate nurses to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will complete assessments, triage assessments, administer medications, monitor withdrawal symptoms, and adjust care as needed. You will provide client-centered, trauma-informed care supporting the medical, physical, and emotional needs of clients, respond to behavioral emergencies, and maintain a safe environment. Strong clinical, organizational and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage risk, de-escalate situations, and follow safety and infection control practices. You must be physically capable of providing direct care to adult patients in a medical detox unit, including standing, walking, assisting with patient mobility, and responding to medical or behavioral emergencies. Candidates must be able to safely perform the essential duties of the position in accordance with workplace safety standards.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta.PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 - $55.79 per hour. Upon being entered into the register as a Registered Nurse, the rate of pay will be adjusted in accordance with the UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.
