Your Opportunity:

The South Health Campus (SHC) is a full-service hospital providing services to Calgary, including Women’s Health, NICU, Emergency, Surgery, and Mental Health. The SHC includes inpatient, outpatient, wellness services, prevention, and public health learning opportunities, as well as a YMCA and retail services. The Cardiac Inpatient (ACU 66) unit, collaborating with clinical teams across SHC, is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN). This unit offers a unique opportunity to work with acute General Internal Medicine and Cardiology patients in a modern environment. The RN will be a key member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, collaborating with staff, physicians, allied health, and support workers to provide comprehensive, quality care to patients and families. The RN will lead nursing assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation to promote, maintain, or restore health, prevent illness, injury, and disability, and support a peaceful death. The RN is accountable for their practice, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, CRNA standards, and the Canadian Code of Ethics, guided by education, expertise, and AHS policies.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide diverse nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, ensuring their safety and well-being. You will utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making, while teaching, counseling, and advocating for patients and families. You will support integrated, holistic patient care, health promotion, and maintenance, providing safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care aligned with AHS values.

Note: Provisional Permit Holders will be paid $39.58/hour - $54.16/hour. Upon registration as a Registered Nurse, pay will be adjusted according to AHS/UNA agreements.

Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program
  • Active or eligible registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • If not practicing as a RN in the last 5 years, completion of CRNA Medication Management and NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification courses is required
Additional Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year recent experience on an Acute Care Adult Medical Unit or relevant ICU/CCU, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, or similar acuity unit
  • Understanding of AHS code of conduct
  • Proficiency in clinical assessment and nursing judgment
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Experience in Acute Care Inpatient Cardiology
  • Telemetry certification, PVAD & CVAD certification, Chest Tube management experience, Connect Care proficiency, Charge Nurse experience, family-centered care experience, and current N95 Fit Test are preferred
