Registered Early Childhood Educator - Long Term Assignment
St. Mary CES, Campbellford

Job Function

Work collaboratively with the teacher to plan and implement the Kindergarten program, maintaining a healthy physical, emotional, and social learning environment. The role involves working during the regular school day and possibly extending to supervision and programming in an extended day program.

Job Description
  1. Support integration of faith in all curriculum areas, including delivering the Religion program and participating in faith-based activities and liturgies.
  2. Collaborate with teachers to observe, monitor, and assess children's progress and development, and communicate with families.
  3. Partner with the teacher to plan and implement developmentally appropriate, student-interest-driven, play-based programming aligned with the Four Frames of Learning: Belonging and Contributing, Self-Regulation and Well-Being, Demonstrating Literacy and Mathematics Behaviours, and Problem Solving and Innovating.
  4. Assist children in becoming independent with routines such as toileting, dressing, and lunchtime activities, providing guidance and support as needed.
  5. Attend staff meetings, parent conferences, Welcome to Kindergarten Night, and other professional development activities.
  6. Administer medication following Board Policy and Regulations (AP-HS-401).
  7. Provide age-appropriate programming for groups of students in an extended day setting.
  8. Ensure supervision, provide direction to assistants, and maintain a safe, hygienic environment with diverse activities that promote social, emotional, literacy, numeracy, and physical skills.
  9. Maintain all necessary records (e.g., attendance, health issues) and set up the classroom environment.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • O.S.S.D. plus Early Childhood Education Diploma with at least six months of experience in an educational setting.
  • Proof of registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • Knowledge of the Ministry of Education Kindergarten Program.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Experience in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate programs.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies, including medication administration and special services.
  • Physical ability to perform duties involving lifting, carrying, and standing/walking for extended periods.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations and respond appropriately in emergencies.
