Job description

Duties:

1. Provision of nutritional education for individuals and their caregivers, the care team and to patient groups.
2. Assessment of nutritional status and diagnosis for patients of the Forensic Psychiatry Program, including patients with metabolic/endocrine disorders, as required.
3. Development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans and monitoring interventions for individual patients.
4. Work effectively and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary treatment team and contribute to interdisciplinary care planning.
5. Provide clear documentation and communicate pertinent, concise information regarding individual patients to the other team members.
6. Respond to program consultation requests for service in a timely fashion.
7. Attend clinical meetings, family conferences, program/services meetings and clinical dietician meetings as required.
8. Liaison with appropriate community agencies as required.
9. Liaison with Food Services regarding patient care.
10. Adhere to The Royal policies and procedures and College of Dieticians of Ontario standards including staying current with WHMIS training, fire demonstration, Fire and Emergency manual review and Accreditation.
11. Participate in professional practice meetings and quality improvement activities.
12. Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal.
13. Ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royal’s Anti-Racism, Discrimination & Harassment-Free Workplace Policy.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s Degree from a University in Foods & Nutrition or equivalent.
2. Accredited post-graduate internship or equivalent experience.
3. Registration with College of Dieticians of Ontario.
4. Knowledge of nutrition as it relates to psychiatry.
5. Knowledge and experience working in a psychosocial rehabilitation model of practice.
6. Previous experience in an adult psychiatric setting.
7. WHMIS update in preceding 12 months.
8. Must be computer proficient.
9. Experience and comfort with interdisciplinary collaborative care.
10. Adherence to patient and workplace safety policies and practices.
11. English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, comprehension, reading & writing. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
