Job summary

Radius Community Health and Healing is seeking a Casual Registered Dental Assistant in Edmonton. You will provide chairside support, manage patient flow, and help maintain operatories in a busy dental clinic.

You'll work within a trauma-informed, harm-reduction framework, supporting diverse populations while upholding infection control standards and administrative duties as required.

Qualifications

• Registration with the College of Alberta Dental Assistants as a Registered Dental Assistant in good standing.
• Mandatory vulnerable sector check and suitable criminal record check.

Responsibilities

• Chairside assistance with dental procedures.
• Management of patient flow throughout the clinic.
• Upkeep of operatories and equipment, including sterilization and organization of all clinical tools.
• Compliance with Alberta practice standards (ADA&C) and infection prevention guidelines.

Radius Community Health and Healing Dental Clinic is a unique clinical practice that prioritizes dental care accessibility for individuals who may not otherwise be able to access, or afford, dental care. Radius offers dental care on a sliding fee schedule based on an individual or family’s income, and prioritizes inclusive, non-judgmental, trauma-informed care. The Dental Clinic provides restorative and preventative care and features associate staff dentists as well as a partnership with University of Alberta dentistry and dental hygiene students.

Job Description

The Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) role provides clinical support chairside to the dentistry team, and throughout the dental clinic where required. The RDA is a vital team member who is responsible for clinic flow, upkeep of the operatories, clinical assistance, and general support duties throughout the dental clinic.

This includes:

• Chairside assistance with dental procedures
• Management of patient flow throughout the clinic
• Upkeep of operatories and equipment, including sterilization and organization of all clinical tools
• Compliance to all relevant Alberta practice standards, including ADA&C standards and infection prevention & control guidelines.
• Must be comfortable with reception/ administration procedures.

Qualifications

• Registration with the College of Alberta Dental Assistants as aRegistered Dental Assistant in good standing
• Mandatory vulnerable sector check and suitable criminal record check

Skills and Competencies

• Able to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities, strong problem-solving skills.
• Prior experience with Dentrix an asset, as well as Office 365 software suite
• Be able to work both co-operatively within a multidisciplinary team, and independently in a self-directed and accountable manner.
• Ability to demonstrate patience and understanding for those with addictions and behavioral disorders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Has a good understanding of trauma-informed care and must be able to operate within a harm reduction model of care.
• Knowledge and experience working with diverse and marginalized populations.
