Job summary

Comfort Keepers is hiring a Registered Care Aide to support clients in the Victoria area. You will work with the health care team to deliver in-home care, assist with ADLs/IADLs, and maintain client safety and comfort.

The role requires a healthcare background, BC Registry number, and a valid driver’s license. The office serves the Greater Victoria region with flexible hours and paid training.

Qualifications

• Successful graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience with BC Registry Number.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of client care and home support services under the health care team.
• Observe and report significant changes in the client’s presentation.
• Collaborate with the health care team, clients, and caregivers to maximize independence with ADLs and IADLs.
• Assist with bathing, dressing, mobility, feeding, toileting.
• Assist with household activities including meal prep and shopping.
• Motivate, encourage, and involve clients in their care.
• Provide input in care planning with the health care team.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients and staff.
• Drive clients to appointments and outings.

Are you a strong team player and have a desire to help others? We are looking for a Registered Care Aide to join our team to work in the Victoria area for the cluster shift.

As a Caregiveryou will make a difference in your clients lives by:

• Assisting in the delivery of client care and home support services under the direction of the health care team.
• Assist clients with care, observe, and report significant changes in the client’s presentation.
• Collaborate with the health care team, clients, and their caregivers to maximize independence with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs).
• Assist clients with Bathing, showering, dressing, mobility, feeding, toileting
• Assist with household activities including meal prep, shopping for groceries laundry etc.
• Motivate, encourage, and involve clients in their care.
• Provide input and feedback in the care planning process to the health care team.
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for clients and staff.
• Driving client in their vehicle to appointments and outings

Job Requirements:

• Successful graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience with BC Registry Number.
• Have or be able to get a criminal record check
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and proficiently both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively and respectfully.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment
• Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle is a bonus!
• First Aid/CPR certificate

Our office serves seniors across the island and surrounding communities, including Sidney, Saanich, Oak Bay, Fairfield, James Bay, Esquimalt & Westshore. This position may require travel to those areas – we do our best to match you with clients in your area.
