Job summary

Northern Health's Bulkley Lodge in Smithers is seeking a Registered Care Aide to join a supportive team providing resident-centered care. You will perform nursing procedures and assist with daily living activities, under the supervision of the Manager or designate, while contributing to a positive and progressive workplace culture.

The role includes evening shifts from 16:30 to 21:00, with a rotating schedule, and requires current registration with the BC Care Aide Registry.

Qualifications

  • Grade 10 or higher with graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant Program or equivalent.
  • Must be registered with the BC Care Aide Registry.

Responsibilities

  • Provide resident care in accordance with resident-centred care philosophy and facility policies.
  • Take temperature, pulse and respiration.
  • Assist with activities of daily living (personal, social, physical and recreational needs).
  • Transport residents and perform clerical duties.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, the Registered Care Aide provides resident care in accordance with resident-centred care philosophy and established regional and facility policies and procedures. As part of the multidisciplinary team and under the direction of the Manager or designate, the Registered Care Aide performs nursing procedures such as taking temperature, pulse and respiration in addition to resident care duties relating to activities of daily living, including personal, social, physical and recreational needs. Transports residents and performs clerical duties.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work:

Evenings, 16:30 to 21:00 (rotating)

Must have current registration with the BC Care Aide Registry
Qualfications
  • Grade 10 plus graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience and registered with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
