Qualifications

As the Regional Sales Manager, you will be responsible for managing and growing Makita sales revenue within the defined territory through the proper execution of Makita's strategic initiatives and sales programs. Focusing on residential and commercial construction supply accounts and key end-user companies, while overseeing the entire region's sales revenue and account base. You will work with all departments throughout Makita Canada Inc. to assist in a smooth transition for the customer, ensuring they are satisfied to the best of Makita’s ability.

What will you work on?

  1. Compile lists of prospective / target customers (Distribution / End-Users) for use as sales leads, based on information from business directories and publications, industry ads, trade shows, Internet websites, and other prospecting sources, including job site surveillance.
  2. Travel throughout assigned territory to establish, maintain, and grow relationships with ongoing and potential customers.
  3. Coordinate activities for customers to ensure they are receiving superior service.
  4. Assist with overall sales growth for Makita Canada, including product and brand conversions.
  5. Creatively and strategically plan, coordinate, and execute trade shows and select events to reach our target audiences, including professional contractors, hardware dealers/distributors, and members of both traditional and social media.
  6. Investigate and resolve customer issues and concerns.
  7. Provide expertise and support regarding pricing, quoting, orders, and other sales support functions.
  8. Present, execute, and administer Corporate Sales Programs, including co-op, rebates, strategic initiatives, and promotions, along with other corporate programs as needed.
  9. Engage with the Marketing Department to properly utilize and distribute Makita marketing materials (e.g., brochures and point-of-purchase materials).
  10. Keep and submit accurate records of monthly sales reports, call reports, expense reports, odometer reports, and itineraries.
  11. Stay informed of market conditions, changes, and competitor activities within the industry and territory, and communicate findings internally.
  12. Be cognizant of other Makita divisions such as manufacturing and assembly, National Industrial MRO, government / GSA, Outdoor Power Equipment (OPE), and Big-Box retail, including all other divisions.
  13. Support Makita National Accounts.
  14. Schedule account meetings, sales update meetings, and any other meetings as required. Meetings must be conducted professionally, including written agendas, PowerPoint presentations, and sales figures.
  15. Maintain and control Makita's assets and their records, such as vehicles, demo tools, marketing materials, and product samples.
  16. Perform all company functions per municipal, provincial, federal laws, and company policies.
  17. Other job-related activities, duties, and projects as assigned.

To be successful, you will have :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Degree or Diploma in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field (asset)
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related sales experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Safe driving record (driver’s abstract required)
  • Knowledge of the power tool industry and all phases of construction
