Summary

The Eastern Regional Sales Manager's role is to drive sales by planning, directing, and evaluating the activities of the external sales team, thereby exceeding sales targets and providing excellent customer service. The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the activities of the sales team, ensuring their work aligns with all relevant policies, procedures, and goals. The sales territory extends from Ottawa through the Maritimes.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy and Planning : Developing and implementing sales strategies to meet regional sales targets and objectives. This involves market analysis, forecasting, aiding in account planning and setting sales goals.
  • Team Leadership : Leading, mentoring, and managing a team of sales representatives. This includes recruiting, training, performance evaluation, and supporting the team to meet its targets. Demonstrating to others what a collaborator looks like.
  • Customer Relationship Management : Building and maintaining solid relationships with key customers, understanding their needs, and ensuring customer satisfaction. This can also involve resolving customer challenges.
  • Market Analysis : Monitoring market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify opportunities and threats, and using this information to adapt sales strategies and tactics.
  • Reporting and Analysis : Ensuring CRM data is as accurate as possible, presenting findings to senior management, and analyzing sales data to track performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Collaboration : Working closely with the National Sales Leader and all other department leads to align sales strategies with overall company goals and ensure seamless operations.
  • Budget Management : Managing the regional sales budget, including capital and expense budgets related to travel, recruiting, training, promotions, and other sales activities.
  • Team expansion : Bring on an experienced salesperson with industry experience by the end of 2025 to drive growth and mentor junior employees.
  • Sales Functions : Overseeing day-to-day sales functions within the region, ensuring the sales team adheres to the company’s policies and procedures.

Core Competencies

The Eastern Regional Sales Manager is expected to possess expert-level knowledge of sales tactics, products, and market trends in the door hardware industry. This role requires strong leadership, communication, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of the market and customer needs. Skilled at the MS Office suite, CRM experience, especially in Oracle NetSuite, and must be fluent in both French and English.

Characteristics

A successful incumbent to the position is analytical, highly organized, an effective communicator, and a strong leader who can coach, structure, and ensure compliance. They must be capable of strategic thinking in the short and long term, and develop customer or industry-specific sales growth strategies.

Education and Experience

A post-secondary degree (bachelor’s or higher) in commerce or a related field would be an asset. A combination of sales training and experience may be considered an equivalent. A minimum of five years’ experience in the architectural hardware and / or construction industry is required.
